After a year-long hiatus, Ram Charan is ready to make waves at the box office with his upcoming sports drama, Peddi. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and backed by producers Ishan Saksena and Venkata Satish Kilaru, this period tale promises high-octane action, emotional drama and soulful music by A.R. Rahman.

Star-Studded Cast

At the heart of Peddi is Charan himself, portraying Peddi Pehelwan, a charismatic wrestler from rural Andhra Pradesh. Opposite him, Janhvi Kapoor plays his love interest, Achiyamma, bringing a refreshing chemistry to the screen. The ensemble also includes:

  • Shiva Rajkumar as the formidable Gournaidu
  • Divyenndu stepping in as the comic-relief Rambujji
  • Jagapathi Babu in the role of intimidating Appalasoori

Plot Premise

Set in the vibrant 1980s Andhra countryside, Peddi tracks the journey of a local hero who wields his wrestling prowess and passion for cricket to unite his community. When a rival clan threatens the village’s pride, Peddi Pehelwan must rally everyone, proving that grit and spirit can triumph over adversity. Expect stirring fight sequences, heartfelt camaraderie and a dash of romance.

Cinematographer R. Rathnavelu captures rustic landscapes and intense bout sequences with equal flair. Editor Naveen Nooli stitches the drama and action together seamlessly, while A.R. Rahman’s soundtrack adds emotional resonance and foot-tapping energy.

Peddi is slated to release on Thursday, 4 June 2026. South Indian audiences will enjoy the distribution network of Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, with Jio Studios handling the North Indian territories. The date was shifted multiple times—from Ram Charan’s birthday special on 27 March to April and then June—before finalizing the June slot.
