Nirmal Kapoor (Full Name Nirmal Surinder Kapoor), the esteemed matriarch of the Kapoor family and mother to Bollywood stalwarts Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, and Reena Kapoor Marwah, passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 90. She breathed her last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to age-related ailments.

Born in 1935, Nirmal Kapoor was married to the late film producer Surinder Kapoor in 1955. Together, they nurtured a family that would become one of the most influential in Indian cinema. Nirmal Kapoor’s funeral was held on May 3 at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Anil Kapoor, along with his siblings and nephew Arjun Kapoor, was seen accompanying her mortal remains.
